Octoque has two inboxes. Comments shows comments from Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Threads, LinkedIn, TikTok and Bluesky, plus your Google reviews. Messages shows DMs from Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Bluesky and Reddit. You read and reply in one place instead of seven apps.
Each platform’s reply rules still apply, and Octoque shows them in the reply box: Meta’s 24-hour window, TikTok’s 10 replies in 48 hours. Everything is read live from the platforms and never stored by Octoque.
- On Messenger, Meta gives businesses “up to 24 hours to respond to a user”, and a Human Agent tag lets a person reply manually within 7 days.[1]
- Octoque follows that rule for Instagram and Facebook DMs: a normal reply within 24 hours, a personal reply from 1 to 7 days, and nothing after.
- On TikTok, Octoque allows up to 10 replies within 48 hours of the person’s last message, and only replies (you can’t start a chat).
- X comments and X DMs aren’t in either inbox, because X charges apps for reading them.
- Comments, messages and reviews are read live, kept in memory for about a minute, and never written to Octoque’s database.

Comments: everything that needs a reply
- Needs a reply is the default view: comments from other people that your account hasn’t answered and you haven’t marked done.
- Reply with ⌘ Enter, like, hide or delete (deleting asks first), or mark a comment done. Done has an Undo.
- Suggest replies asks Octoque AI for three replies in your voice. It costs one credit, and you edit before sending. Nothing is sent on its own.
- Filter by app when one platform is busier than the rest.
If you get the same question under every video (“link?”, “what camera?”), set up Auto DM for that keyword on Creator and Studio plans. It sends the answer as a DM and can reply publicly under the comment too.
Messages: your DMs in one list
- Unread conversations sit on top. Opening one marks it read on the platform too.
- Reply with text. On Instagram and Facebook you can also send a photo from your Library.
- Archive what’s done, and unarchive it if the person writes again.
- Welcome questions: up to 4 questions people can tap when they first open a chat with you on Instagram or Facebook, plus Facebook’s greeting line (write
{first name}to use their name).
Octoque only replies. It doesn’t start new conversations, send bulk messages or run a chatbot. That is on purpose: the platforms limit messages a business starts, and people can tell.
Reply windows: when you can still answer
Platforms limit how long an app can reply to a DM. Octoque reads the time of the person’s last message and tells you in the reply box which case you’re in.
| Platform | What Octoque does |
|---|---|
| Instagram, Facebook | Within 24 hours of their last message: a normal reply. From 1 to 7 days: sent as a personal (human agent) reply. After 7 days: the box explains why it can't send. |
| TikTok | Replies only, up to 10 within 48 hours of their last message. After that, the box says TikTok has closed the window. |
| Bluesky, Reddit | Text replies, no time window from Octoque's side. |
Google reviews
With a Google Business Profile connected, Comments gets a Google reviews tab with the stars and text of each review. Needs a reply shows the ones you haven’t answered. Reply (or tap Start a reply for me), then edit or delete your reply later. Replies are public on Google, so write them for the next customer reading, not only the reviewer.
A new review adds to the unread count, the same as a new DM.
Why X is left out
X charges apps for reading posts, replies and messages through its API. A live inbox reads every account each time you open it, so X comments and DMs would cost money on every refresh, and that cost would land in your plan price. Octoque still posts to X, with threads, polls and reply settings. You read X replies in the X app.
Read live, never stored
- Comments, messages and reviews are read from the platforms when you open the page, kept in memory for about a minute so the page is fast, then dropped.
- None of their text is written to Octoque’s database. For comments, the only thing stored is which ones you marked done (the platform’s comment ids, nothing else).
- If one account fails to load (signed out, a platform hiccup), the rest of the list still shows, with a note on the account that needs you.
A 15-minute routine
- Open Comments → Needs a reply. Answer the first hour's comments on today's post first.
- Mark done what needs no answer, so tomorrow's list starts clean.
- Open Messages. Reply to Instagram and Facebook DMs inside 24 hours; TikTok inside 48.
- Check the Google reviews tab and answer every new review, good or bad.
- If the same question shows up three times, make it an Auto DM keyword.
Questions people ask
Which plans include the inboxes?
Comments and Messages are on every paid plan. Auto DM is on Creator and Studio. See pricing.
Can I start a new DM from Octoque?
No. Messages is for replying. The platforms limit messages that a business starts.
Why can't I reply to an Instagram DM from last week?
After 7 days Meta closes the window for apps. Reply in the Instagram app, where your own messages aren’t limited this way.
Does Octoque keep my DMs?
No. They are read live and held in memory for about a minute, never stored.
Will X be added?
Only if X’s read pricing changes enough to keep plans affordable. We’ll say so in the changelog if it does.
