Schedule posts, threads and polls on X

Octoque auto-publishes text posts, posts with up to 4 photos, posts with a video up to 2 minutes 20 seconds, threads of up to 10 posts and polls to X. You can also choose who can reply. Each paid plan includes a set number of X posts a month: 30 on Starter, 150 on Creator and 500 on Studio, and the trial includes 10. A post with a link counts as 10 X posts, because X charges far more for links.
The Free plan doesn’t post to X for you, but it can remind you to post there yourself. X comments and DMs aren’t in Octoque’s inbox, because X bills apps for reading them.

X’s limits, and Octoque’s

What Octoque itself allows on X today:
- Captions up to 280 characters, with a live counter under the caption.
- Videos up to 2:20. Longer ones can be trimmed for X alone (keep the start or the end), while other platforms get the full video.
- One video, or up to 4 photos. Files: MP4, MOV, JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 1 GB.
How Octoque handles X
X allows 280 characters, the tightest limit of all eleven platforms. Octoque shows an X counter under the caption and tells you if it’s too long, so you can write a short version in the X tab and leave the long one for everyone else.
Tap Make it a thread and add up to 9 more posts. Each shows a counter for every platform it goes to, so the same thread can go to X, Threads and Bluesky.
On X, every link counts as 23 characters, and emoji and Chinese, Japanese or Korean characters count as 2.[1] Octoque’s counter counts what you type, so leave a little room when your post has a link.
If you delete a post on X, Octoque marks it as removed and deletes its own copy of what the post said, as X’s developer rules require.
When it posts: 12 pm, then your own hour
Pick “Each platform at its golden hour” and X goes out at 12 pm where your audience lives, not where you are. It’s a starting point that adapts: once your posts have results, your own best hours take over.
How to connect X
- In Octoque, open Connected accounts and tap Connect next to X.
- Sign in on X’s own page and authorise Octoque. Octoque never sees your password.
- Your X account shows in the list. Octoque counts X posts against your plan each month.

What you can’t do on X, and why
Some limits are X’s, set in its official API; a few are Octoque’s own for now. Here they are, so nothing surprises you after you’ve scheduled.
- Go past 280 characters in the first post. Octoque keeps it within 280, counted the way X counts.[1] With X Premium, the later posts of a thread can be longer.
- Post without a monthly limit. Each paid Octoque plan includes a set number of X posts a month (30, 150 or 500), and a post with a link counts as 10. The Free plan only sends reminders for X.
- Read or answer X comments and DMs. X bills apps for reading them, so they stay in the X app.
- Put photos or a video on a poll. X doesn’t allow it.

How many X posts can I schedule?

Why does my 270-character post show as too long on X?
X counts every link as 23 characters and emoji as 2.[1] Shorten it a little, or move the link.
Can I schedule a thread?
Yes. Up to 10 posts of 280 characters each; with X Premium, the posts after the first can be up to 25,000. Photos and videos go on the first post.
Can I schedule an X poll?
Yes. 2 to 4 choices, running from 5 minutes to 7 days. A poll can’t have photos, a video or a thread.
My video is 3 minutes. Can it go to X?
Octoque posts videos up to 2:20 to X. It asks you to keep the start or the end for X; your other platforms get the full video.
