Schedule Facebook Page posts, Reels and Stories
Updated Platform rules checked
Octoque auto-publishes text posts, up to 10 photos, videos up to 4 minutes, Reels and Stories to Facebook Pages you manage. You can add a first comment, and edit the text after it’s live.
It can’t post to personal profiles or Groups. Meta closed both to apps: posting as a person in 2018,[2] and the Groups API on 22 April 2024.[3] That’s true for every scheduler.
What you can post on Facebook with Octoque
Everything marked Auto-publish goes out on its own at the time you set. You get a notification when it’s live, or a plain explanation if Facebook turned it down.

Facebook’s limits, and Octoque’s
These numbers come from Facebook’s own documentation. Each links to the page it came from.
| What | Limit | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Caption length | 63,206 charactersMeta's current docs give no number. 63,206 is the limit Facebook announced in 2011 and still the one most tools use. | techradar.com |
| Reels: shape | 9:16 | developers.facebook.com |
| Reels: size | 1080 × 1920 px | developers.facebook.com |
| Reels: length | 3 seconds to 1:30 min3 to 90 seconds through Meta's Reels publishing API. Longer videos post as regular Page videos. | developers.facebook.com |
| Reels: file types | MP4MP4 recommended; H.264 or H.265 (VP9, AV1 also accepted). | developers.facebook.com |
What Octoque itself allows on Facebook today:
- Captions up to 63,206 characters, with a live counter under the caption.
- Videos up to 4:00. Longer ones can be trimmed for Facebook alone (keep the start or the end), while other platforms get the full video.
- One video, up to 10 photos, a Reel or a Story. Files: MP4, MOV, JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 1 GB.
How Octoque handles Facebook
After you sign in with Facebook, Octoque lists the Pages you manage and you choose one. Add more Pages the same way; each shows as its own account.
Facebook starts at 1 pm in your audience’s time zone, hours before Instagram’s 7 pm, so a video posted to both doesn’t land on both at once.
Page comments and Messenger DMs show in Octoque’s inbox. Meta allows replies within 24 hours of a person’s last message, or up to 7 days as a personal reply; Octoque shows which applies. Add welcome questions and a greeting too.
Facebook allows far longer text than anywhere else. Write the full story in the Facebook tab; the other platforms keep their shorter caption.
When it posts: 1 pm, then your own hour
Pick “Each platform at its golden hour” and Facebook goes out at 1 pm where your audience lives, not where you are. It’s a starting point that adapts: once your posts have results, your own best hours take over.
How to connect Facebook
- In Octoque, open Connected accounts and tap Connect next to Facebook.
- Sign in on Facebook’s own page and allow access to the Pages you want. Octoque never sees your password.
- Pick the Page to post to. You need a role on it that lets you create content.[1]

What you can’t do on Facebook, and why
Some limits are Facebook’s, set in its official API; a few are Octoque’s own for now. Here they are, so nothing surprises you after you’ve scheduled.
- Post to your personal profile. Meta stopped all apps from publishing as a person in 2018.[2]
- Post to Groups. Meta removed the Groups API, including publish_to_groups, on 22 April 2024.[3]
- Post to a Page you can’t create content on. Meta requires a Page role with content tasks.[1]
- Post a Reel longer than 60 seconds through Octoque. Post it as a regular Page video instead, or trim it.
