Octoque vs Later: which fits a creator posting short video?

Later is a visual, Instagram-first planner with link-in-bio pages, Pinterest and Snapchat. Octoque is a newer scheduler that sends one video everywhere, X included, each platform at its own golden hour.

The short version

Later is cheaper per account: Starter is $25 a month for one profile on each of 8 networks, and Growth is $50 for two users, 16 profiles and approvals. Octoque costs more for teams of three or more, but it posts to X (Later ended X support in August 2025), has no monthly post caps on paid plans, needs no card for its trial, and refunds any payment within 14 days. Later’s plans are non-refundable.

  • Instagram planning. A visual planner built around Instagram, with years of polish. Octoque has a grid preview for Instagram and TikTok too, but planning is not its whole focus.
  • Snapchat. Later posts to Snapchat; Octoque doesn’t. Both post to Pinterest.
  • Cheaper for teams. Growth is $50 a month (monthly billing) for 2 users, 16 profiles, approvals and a social inbox. Octoque’s approvals start at $29 for 2 seats; a third person needs Studio ($99).
  • Phone apps. Native iOS and Android apps on all plans. Octoque runs in your phone’s browser. Both have an inbox: Later’s covers Instagram, Facebook and TikTok from Growth.
  • Listening and competitor benchmarks on Scale, and many years of history as a company.

X is still there

Later ended X support on 28 August 2025. Octoque posts to X on every paid plan (30 to 500 X posts a month, because X charges apps per post).

No post caps, no card, a real refund

Later Starter allows 30 posts per profile a month and Growth 180. Octoque’s paid plans have unlimited scheduling (X has its own allowance). Later’s trial needs a card and turns into a paid plan; Octoque’s needs no card and, if you don’t choose, moves you to Free, which reminds you to post instead of posting. Later’s plans are non-refundable; Octoque refunds any payment within 14 days.

API and AI assistants

We found no public API or MCP server for Later. Octoque includes both on every paid plan, so Claude, ChatGPT or your own scripts can schedule. How it works.

Switching from Later

  1. Start the trial
    Sign up for Octoque: 14 days of auto-posting to up to 3 accounts (30 posts), no card. Keep Later running.
  2. Connect your accounts
    Sign in on each platform’s own page, X included. Connecting to Octoque doesn’t disconnect Later.
  3. Set your posting times
    Recreate your schedule in Octoque’s queue, or let golden hour time each platform.
  4. Move upcoming posts
    Octoque doesn’t connect to Later. Upload the next week or two of videos to the Library, add the posts by hand or from a spreadsheet (CSV, up to 200 rows), and remove them from Later as you go, so nothing posts twice.
  5. Move your link page
    Octoque has a link in bio at octoque.com/@you, with click counts. Copy your links over and change the link on your profiles before you cancel Later.
  6. Cancel when you’re sure
    Later’s plans are non-refundable and renew automatically, so cancel before the renewal date.

Is Later cheaper than Octoque?

Usually, yes, for Instagram-led creators and small teams: Later Starter is $25 a month and Growth $50, against Octoque’s $29 Creator and $99 Studio. Octoque Starter is $15 for 3 accounts.

Can Later post to X (Twitter)?

No. Later ended X support on 28 August 2025. Octoque posts to X on every paid plan.

Do both auto-publish Reels, TikTok and Shorts?

Yes. Later auto-publishes all three (Shorts from desktop). Octoque publishes all three directly; videos over 3 minutes need a part chosen for Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.

Does Octoque have a link in bio like Later?

Yes. Octoque’s link in bio lives at octoque.com/@you, with your links, latest posts and click counts, on every plan. It can also show a live media kit for brands. Later’s Link in Bio has its own analytics and has been around longer.

Do I need a card to try them?
