Octoque compared with Buffer, Later, Hootsuite and others
If you mostly post short video to Instagram, TikTok and YouTube and want each platform timed separately, Octoque is built for that, from $15 a month, with a 14-day free trial. If you need social listening, ads or a team inbox with routing, Hootsuite, Sprout Social or Metricool do things Octoque doesn’t. If you want the most networks for the least money, Buffer and Publer charge per account from $5–6 a month. If you want posting for free, Buffer, Metricool, Publer, Zoho Social and Iconosquare have free plans that post for you; Octoque’s Free plan only reminds you to post.

Where other tools are stronger than Octoque
Octoque is new and built around one job: get one video or post out to several platforms at the right hour. Plenty of tools here do more:
- Listening, ads and team inboxes. Hootsuite and Sprout Social include listening and an inbox with routing or case management; Hootsuite and Metricool handle ads. Buffer and Metricool have an inbox even on their free plans. Octoque has an inbox for comments, DMs and Google reviews, lighter listening (Mentions, on Studio) and Boost for live posts, but no full ads manager, no routing, and no X comments or DMs.
- Free plans that post for you. Buffer, Metricool, Publer, Zoho Social and Iconosquare post automatically on their free plans. Octoque’s Free plan plans and reminds you, and you post yourself; auto-posting needs the 14-day trial or a paid plan from $15.
- More networks. Octoque has 11. Publer, Zoho Social and Vista Social also post to networks Octoque doesn’t, such as Mastodon, Telegram, WordPress and Snapchat.
- Phone apps. Buffer, Hootsuite, Metricool, Sprout Social and others have native iOS and Android apps. Octoque runs in your phone’s browser.
- Track record. These companies have years of history and thousands of public reviews. Octoque has none yet.
- Approval-heavy teams. Planable is built around feedback and multi-level approvals; Loomly and Vista Social include approvals on their entry plans.
- Instagram planning. Later and Planoly are built around visual grid planners, and Planoly sells from a link-in-bio store. Octoque has a grid preview and a link in bio, but no store.
Where Octoque is different
- Each platform at its own hour. Golden hour schedules Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and the rest separately, in your audience’s time zone, on every plan (on Free, as a reminder at that time).
- Accounts included, not billed one by one. Creator is $29 for 8 accounts and 2 seats; Studio $99 for 25 with 5 seats. Both include approvals.
- A refund on any payment. A full refund within 14 days of any payment, renewals included. Of the others here, Publer, Loomly and Typefully also refund within a set window of each payment; most refund only a first purchase, or nothing.
- API and MCP on every paid plan, including the $15 Starter.
- Tools for earning, not only posting. A link in bio, a live media kit for brands and a brand deals tracker, even on Free.

Who Octoque is for
We read each company’s own pricing page, help centre and terms on 14 October 2026 and linked every fact to where we found it. Where a page didn’t say, we wrote “Not stated” rather than guess. We did not run a long hands-on test of every tool, so these tables compare published plans and documentation, not day-to-day reliability. We recheck every quarter; if something has changed, email hello@octoque.com.
Questions people ask
Which social media scheduler has the best free plan?
It depends on what you post. Buffer’s free plan covers 3 channels with an inbox; Metricool’s covers one brand with 20 posts a month and best times; Publer’s covers 3 accounts. Octoque’s Free plan doesn’t post for you: it plans up to 10 posts a month for 3 accounts and reminds you at golden hour to post them yourself, so any of those free plans that auto-post is better if you want free posting. To try Octoque’s auto-posting, use the 14-day trial (no card), then Starter at $15. Publer leaves X off its free plan and Metricool leaves out LinkedIn and X; X charges apps for posting through its API.
Which schedulers really auto-post TikTok, Reels and Shorts?
Most of the tools here publish all three directly, with exceptions: personal Instagram accounts usually get a phone notification instead, and TikToks using in-app music need to be finished in TikTok. Check the “Auto-publishes short video” column and its source link for each tool.
Is per-channel or per-plan pricing cheaper?
Per channel is cheaper for 1–4 accounts; a plan with accounts included gets cheaper as you add more. At 5 accounts, Buffer Essentials is $30 a month billed monthly and Octoque Creator is $29 for up to 8. See the worked examples in Octoque vs Buffer.
