The short answer

Octoque auto-publishes text posts, photos, videos up to 5 minutes, carousels of up to 10 items and threads of up to 10 posts to Threads through Meta’s Threads API. You can add a topic and a first comment.

Each post can be 500 characters, and Threads rejects posts with more than 5 links.^[1]

Everything marked Auto-publish goes out on its own at the time you set. You get a notification when it’s live, or a plain explanation if Threads turned it down.

What Octoque itself allows on Threads today:

Captions up to 500 characters, with a live counter under the caption.
Videos up to 5:00. Longer ones can be trimmed for Threads alone (keep the start or the end), while other platforms get the full video.
Up to 10 photos and videos. Files: MP4, MOV, JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 1 GB.

How Octoque handles Threads

Threads’ full video length

Octoque’s Threads limit matches the Threads API: 5 minutes.^[1] A video too long for Instagram or TikTok can still go to Threads in full.

A 500-character tab

Threads allows 500 characters, more than X’s 280 and far less than Instagram’s 2,200. Octoque’s counter shows each one, and you can write a Threads version in its own tab.

One thread, three platforms

Write a thread once and send it to Threads, X and Bluesky. Each post shows a counter for every platform it goes to.

Comments on your Threads posts show in Octoque’s inbox, next to the rest.

Sign in on Threads’ own page and approve. Octoque never sees your password.

What you can’t do on Threads, and why

Some limits are Threads’s, set in its official API; a few are Octoque’s own for now. Here they are, so nothing surprises you after you’ve scheduled.

Put more than 5 links in a post. Threads rejects them (since 22 December 2025).^[1]
Post without limit. A Threads profile can publish 250 posts through the API in 24 hours.^[1]
Use several topic tags. Threads counts one topic tag per post, the first valid one.^[1]
Change a post after it’s live. Threads doesn’t let apps edit a live post. Octoque can delete it for you.

Questions people ask

Can I post the same thing to Threads and Instagram?

Yes. Pick both in one post. Threads starts at 9 am and Instagram at 7 pm in your audience’s time zone, or you can pick one time for both. Keep the Threads caption within 500 characters.

Can I schedule a thread of several posts?

Yes. Up to 10 posts of 500 characters each. The same thread can go to X and Bluesky.

Do emoji count extra on Threads?

Threads counts text by its encoded size, so emoji take more room than letters.^[1] Leave a little space if you use many.

Can I add a link preview?

Threads only shows link attachments on text-only posts.^[1] A link in a photo or video post stays plain text.
