Captions and platform rules
Caption limits for each platform
Octoque checks each platform’s caption length before anything goes out, so a post never fails for being too long.
Updated
Longest caption Octoque sends
| Platform | Characters | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| X | 280 | Write a short version in the X tab |
| Threads | 500 | Text-only posts are fine |
| 2,200 | Needs a photo or video | |
| TikTok | 2,200 | Needs a video or photo |
| 3,000 | ||
| YouTube | 5,000 | This is the video description; the title is separate (100) |
| 63,206 |
Emoji and some symbols can count as more than one character.
Troubleshooting
Too long for X. Shorten it in its tab, or leave it out.
Open the platform’s tab and write a shorter version. See a caption for each platform.
X allows 280 characters; this has 312. Shorten it in the X tab.
The same check when saving or editing (the numbers change). Shorten that platform’s caption.
