Post a video that’s too long for a platform
Octoque asks which part to post on platforms with a shorter limit: keep the start or keep the end. Other platforms get the full video.
Updated
Before you start
- A video longer than one of your picked platforms allows (see the table).
Steps
- Upload the video in New post. A box says, for example, “Too long for Instagram (3:00), TikTok (3:00).”
- For each platform listed, tap Keep the start or Keep the end, or Leave it out.
- Schedule as usual.
What you’ll see
Octoque posts a trimmed copy on those platforms (the post page shows “trimmed”). Your original file stays as it is.
Longest video Octoque posts to each platform
| Platform | Longest video |
|---|---|
| 3:00 | |
| TikTok | 3:00, or less if TikTok sets a lower limit for your account |
| YouTube | 3:00 |
| 10:00 | |
| X | 2:20 |
| 4:00 | |
| Threads | 5:00 |
Troubleshooting
The video is 3:20; this platform allows 3:00. Trim it and retry, or leave this platform out.
The post was sent without a trim choice (for example from the API). Open it, tap Fix & retry, choose Keep the start or Keep the end, then Save & retry.
This video is 3:20; this TikTok account can post videos up to 1:00. Pick a shorter one, or leave TikTok out.
TikTok sets a lower limit for some accounts. Use a shorter video for TikTok, or leave it out.
We couldn't trim the video
Something went wrong making the shorter copy. Try Retry once; if it fails again, export the video again and make a new post, or write to us.
