When a post fails

What to do when a post didn’t go out

Open the post, read the one-line reason, then tap Retry, or Fix & retry to change something first. Your other platforms aren’t affected.

Updated

Before you start

  • You’ll hear about it three ways: a red box on Home (“Didn’t go out on TikTok: …”), a line in Activity (“Didn’t post on TikTok”), and an email titled “Your post didn’t go out on TikTok”. The email goes to whoever made the post; it’s on unless you switch it off, and quiet hours never hold it back.

Steps

  1. Tap See details on Home, the line in Activity, or Fix and retry in the email.
  2. Read the red box at the top of the post: “Didn’t go out on …” and one line per platform with the reason.
  3. If nothing needs changing (a platform hiccup, a reconnected account), tap Retry (Retry all when several failed). On Home you can tap Retry now.
  4. If something needs changing, tap Fix & retry. Change the caption, trim a long video or fix TikTok settings, then tap Save & retry. If more than one platform failed, the next one opens after you save.

What you’ll see

The platform shows Scheduled, then Posting, then Live. The History at the bottom of the post lists every try, including “One try on TikTok didn’t go through”.

What Octoque retries on its own

When a platform can’t be reached or asks us to slow down, Octoque tries again by itself a few more times, waiting longer each time. You only hear about it if those tries fail too. When a platform refuses the post (for example the account needs reconnecting), Octoque stops and tells you, because trying again won’t help until something changes.

The status words

Needs you on a post (or Didn’t post on one platform) means at least one platform failed. Live platforms stay live; only the failed ones are retried.

Troubleshooting

  • Nothing failed in this post.

Everything already went out or is still scheduled. Refresh the page.

  • That account was disconnected. Reconnect it, then make a new post.

A disconnected account can’t be retried. Connect it again, then use Duplicate on the post.

  • There’s no Retry button

The failed platform’s account was disconnected. Connect it again and make a new post (Duplicate).
