Best time to post calculator

Pick your platforms and where your audience lives. See the next golden-hour slots in their time and in yours, so you can schedule while you sleep.
1. Platforms

Working out your time zone…

How it works

  1. Choose platforms. Each one has its own starting hour, because each audience scrolls at different times.
  2. Say where your audience is. The regions are the same ones the Octoque app uses; the cities cover the biggest time zones. If most of your followers live where you do, leave it on “Same place as me”.
  3. Check your time zone. It is detected from your browser. Change it if you are travelling.

For each platform the calculator takes the starting hour in your audience’s local time, today, or tomorrow if that hour is less than five minutes away. It then shows the same moment on your clock. Daylight-saving changes are handled by your browser’s time-zone database, so a slot after a clock change shows the right hour on both sides.

The starting hours

These are the same hours the Octoque app starts from (local time of your audience). Most sit inside a window that at least one published study points to. Where the biggest study disagrees (Threads and Facebook, for example), the platform guide says so.

Each platform name links to its guide, with every study side by side. Octoque posts YouTube videos up to 3 minutes long (Shorts and short clips).

Worked examples

Fixed dates, so you can check the arithmetic. Both sides of a daylight-saving change are shown where it matters.

  • You in Mumbai (IST, UTC+5:30), audience in New York, Instagram at 19:00 their time: 04:30 the next day on your clock while New York is on daylight time (UTC−4), and 05:30 after 1 November 2026 (UTC−5).
  • You in London, audience in Dubai (GST, UTC+4), TikTok at 20:00 their time: 17:00 on your clock until 25 October 2026 (BST), then 16:00 (GMT).
  • You in Sydney, audience in New York, LinkedIn at 09:00 their time: 00:00 the next day on your clock (AEDT, UTC+11) while New York is on daylight time, then 01:00 after 1 November 2026.

Clock changes in 2026: Sydney moved to daylight time on 4 October, the UK changes on 25 October and the US on 1 November. India and the UAE don’t change their clocks.

What it can’t tell you

These are starting points, not your data. Octoque doesn’t have published audience data of its own yet, and this calculator doesn’t read your accounts. The hours are a sensible first guess from the published studies; your own followers may be online at quite different times.

  • It picks one hour per platform. The studies usually point to windows a few hours wide, and they disagree on the day.
  • One region per run. If your audience is split, run it for each region, or see which one your platform’s analytics says is biggest.
  • Regions use one representative zone: United States (America/New York), Canada (America/Toronto), UK (Europe/London), Europe (Europe/Berlin), Middle East (Asia/Dubai), India (Asia/Kolkata), Southeast Asia (Asia/Singapore), Australia (Australia/Sydney), Latin America (America/Sao Paulo), Africa (Africa/Lagos). Pick a city if your audience is on the other side of a big country.

Questions people ask

Is this based on my followers?

No. It uses fixed starting hours that sit inside the windows published studies recommend. To use your own followers’ activity, check your platform’s analytics, or connect your accounts in Octoque, where your own results take over after a few posts.

Why does my time show the middle of the night?

Because your audience lives in a different time zone. That is the point of scheduling: set it once, and it goes out at their golden hour while you sleep.

Why only one time per platform?

It is the hour Octoque starts from. If you want more choice, the platform guides show each study’s full windows and a heatmap of where they agree.

Does it handle daylight saving time?

Yes. It uses your browser’s time-zone database, so slots after a clock change show the right local hour for both you and your audience.

Do I need an account?

No. The calculator runs in your browser and sends nothing to us. You only need an account to schedule the posts.
