Best Sprout Social alternatives in 2026

Sprout Social is a polished suite, but every user is a seat from $99 a month, and approvals start at $399 per seat. If that’s more than your team needs, here are eight alternatives with dated prices.

By Kumar Gaurav, founder of OctoqueUpdated Facts checked

The short answer

If you use the Smart Inbox and reports every day, look at another suite: Agorapulse has a full inbox from $99 per user, and Zoho Social or Vista Social price per plan instead of per seat. If you mostly publish, a scheduler costs a fraction: Octoque has approvals from $29 a month for 2 people, or $99 in total for 5 people and 25 accounts (Studio); SocialPilot Standard is $50 for 3 users.

Why people look for a Sprout Social alternative

These come up most in Sprout Social’s own documentation and in recent public reviews. Each links to where we saw it.

  1. Price: every user is a seat, from $99 a month (Essentials) to $499 (Advanced) billed monthly. (Sprout Social pricing)
  2. Approvals, bulk scheduling and the Instagram grid planner start on Professional; the API on Advanced. (Sprout Social pricing)
  3. Contracts: yearly plans renew automatically, unused prepaid time isn’t refunded, and renewal prices can rise up to 7%. (Sprout Social terms)
  4. Recent Trustpilot reviews complain about annual contracts and renewals (Sprout’s score there is 1.9 from 87 reviews). (Trustpilot reviews of Sprout Social)
“too bad, you’re locked in.”
Trustpilot reviewer, April 2026, Trustpilot

Sprout Social also does things well, and it may still be the right tool for you: a Smart Inbox with case management and review moderation for Google, Yelp, Trustpilot and app stores, from Standard; optimal Send Times and ViralPost on every plan, from each profile’s own audience data.

The alternatives

Octoque (made by us)

Best for: Creators who post one short video to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, X and more, each at that platform’s own hour.

Price
Free: reminders only, you post (3 accounts, 10 posts a month); Starter $15 a month for 3 accounts, posting for you; Creator $29 for 8. Pricing
Why pick it
  • Golden hour on every plan: each platform at its own time, in your audience’s time zone.
  • Accounts included in the plan, not billed one by one; approvals from Creator.
  • 14-day trial with no card that posts for you (3 accounts, 30 posts), and a full refund within 14 days of any payment, renewals included.
  • API and MCP server on every paid plan.
Watch out for
New, with no third-party reviews yet. Lighter listening than Brandwatch-class tools (Mentions, on Studio: no web, news or forums); boosts live posts but has no full ads manager; no X comments or DMs in the inbox, and no routing or assignment for teams. The Free plan doesn’t post for you, and there’s no native phone app.

Compared with Sprout Social: Octoque has no case management, review moderation beyond Google, or deep listening (its Mentions is lighter), which Sprout does well. It schedules one video to every platform at its own hour, answers comments, DMs and Google reviews, and has roles and approvals from $29 a month for 2 seats or $99 for 5, against Sprout’s $399 per seat for approvals (monthly billing). How to choose

  • A shared inbox with cases and routing is your daily work: stay with a suite. Agorapulse, Hootsuite, Vista Social or Zoho Social Premium.
  • You pay for seats people barely use: pick a plan with seats included: Octoque Studio (5), SocialPilot Standard (3), or unlimited users on Buffer Team, Planable or Sendible.
  • You mainly need approvals: Octoque Creator or Studio, SocialPilot Standard and Vista Social all include them for less than one Sprout Professional seat.
  • You’re on a yearly contract: Sprout doesn’t refund unused prepaid time, so plan the switch for your renewal date.
How we compared

We read each tool’s own pricing page, help centre and terms on 14 October 2026, and linked every price and drawback to its source. Reasons for leaving come from Sprout Social’s own documentation and recent public reviews, which skew negative by nature. We did not run a long hands-on test of each tool, so this compares published plans and documentation, not day-to-day reliability. We picked tools that solve the problems above, not every scheduler on the market. Corrections to hello@octoque.com.
